Overnight Oat & Hemp Seed Smoothie

I love overnight oats for an easy, delicious breakfast. It may not be the healthiest thing you can eat in the morning, but it’s better than most options and keeps you full all morning long.

That’s definitely the case with this smoothie version! I stumbled upon this recipe on Pinterest when I was trying to find ways to eat the hemp seeds I bought for a different recipe. I saw a bunch of recipes for hemp seeds in overnight oats that actually replace the oats, so I might have to try that next. But making a smoothie totally appealed to me after how creamy the hemp seeds turned out in the dressing I made.

I’m already thinking about the next time I can make this smoothie, it was that good. Full of nutritious goodies and super easy to grab and go in the morning before work. I prepped it the night before and then added the frozen banana in the morning which was perfect for me! But you could totally blend the banana the night before so you can actually just grab and go.

For those who don’t know (which was me before I bought them), hemp seeds are a fantastic addition to your diet. I bought mine from Trader Joe’s so I learned most of my facts from TJ’s (and some internet searching) but basically “Each 30 gram serving (about three tablespoons) contains 10 grams of proteinĀ – that’s twice as much as flax, and two and a half times the amount found in chia. Hemp Seeds are also higher in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, and contain some other essential fatty acids that flax and chia lack”. Basically you need to add hemp seed to your cabinet, I’m still looking for more ways to use them but so far I’ve had success in dressing and this smoothie. So I’m on a roll! I also saw a recipe for hemp seed alfredo so I’m kind of all about trying that šŸ˜‰ I’ll let you know how it turns out.
